Furlane

The Furlane, or Friulane, shoe-slippers were born at the end of the Second World War, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia countryside. At the beginning they were humble items: the old bicycle tyres were used as waterproof soles, the canvases of sacks, from the transport of seeds and grains, were transformed into linings, the old clothes were transformed into the uppers. The Furlane, then, spread rapidly, reaching also Venice, where the Gondoliers found their rubber soles perfect for conserving the paintwork of their precious gondolas. Time went by and these comfortable shoes turned into something fashion, loved by men and women of all ages. We also fell in love with the Furlane and their history: for this reason we decided to bring them to Florence. We propose a selection of different models, completely hand-made with various fabrics. In some cases there is no difference between the left and the right shoe, as it was in the past.
